A Kindle book, also known as an e-book, is actually an electronic book with all the characteristics of a usual traditional book. With its increasing popularity for being able to hold thousands of books in one compact device, many wonder what it is that distinguishes a Kindle e-book from other regular e-books.
A Kindle e-book has two main features that set it apart from other digital media; it can be downloaded immediately and anonymously wherever there is wireless connectivity (and even without any), and most importantly, it is readable only on Kindles or devices enabled with kindle apps like smartphones or tablets. A good example of this is when users read their downloaded kindle books on the Amazon website via PC/Macs; these are not actual Kindle books.
The Kindle Fire tablet, Amazon’s first tablet, was introduced in 2011 and has been successful since then. It is a 7-inch color touchscreen device that allows users to browse the web, watch movies, listen to music, read e-books, and play games. The Kindle Fire comes with a free month of Amazon Prime service which offers unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows, as well as access to the Kindle Lending Library.
In addition, Amazon released the Kindle Voyage in 2014 which is a 6-inch e-reader that has an adaptive front light and PagePress sensors that allow users to turn pages without lifting a finger. With this type of technology, one no longer has to worry about losing their place while reading. A Kindle book is an e-book that can be read on these devices, or better yet, downloaded straight to the device.
As of 2014, the best-rated Kindle books are “The 4 Hour Chef” by Tim Ferriss, “What Alice Forgot” by Liane Moriarty, and “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption” by Laura Hillenbrand. Each one has received over four stars in customer reviews.
As for other top-rated books for this year (2016), they include “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith; “I Let You Go” by Clare Mackintosh; and “All The Light We Cannot See” By Anthony Doerr. A Kindle book is an e-book that can be just as good, if not better, than a regular book. With the advancements in technology, it is likely that this will only continue to be the case.
